Let yourself be charmed by the Glénan archipelago
With its fine sandy beaches and unique flora, theGlénan archipelago is an exceptional Breton island. Leaving from Concarneau, 40 minutes from Camping Le Kergariou, join the Odet speedboat company and discover this archipelago with its tropical paradise landscapes.
Accessible between April and September, the Finistère archipelago is made up of twelve islets formed around the main island of Saint Nicolas. It’s the ideal destination for a day out with the family, with its long sandy beaches.
For the more sporty, discover Europe’s largest sailing school: Les Glénans. Established today on several preserved sites around France, the original site of Les Glénans remains its home port. This sailing school retains the spirit of its beginnings (volunteerism, solidarity, sharing…) which it passes on to its 15,000 trainees every year.
When you visit this archipelago, don’t miss its emblem: the Glénan narcissus. Pretty, white, odorless flowers, plants 15 to 40 centimeters high… The Glénan narcissus is a characteristic species of the archipelago. Threatened with extinction in the 1950s, a nature reserve was created on the island of Saint Nicolas to protect it. Go there between April and June! Daffodils are in full bloom.
On site, you can opt for a guided tour of the island or a discovery of the underwater environment. The Centre International de Plongée des Glénan offers introductory courses and diving trips around the archipelago. Baptism, snorkeling, fauna and flora discovery, wreck tours… Take your pick from all the school’s offerings, suitable for beginners and more experienced divers alike.
