A picturesque stopover on the Atlantic coast
Situated in a ria in South Finistère and remarkable for its famous large pink house at the entrance to the port for fishermen and yachtsmen, as well as its two pretty lighthouses, a visit to the port of Doëlan is a must in Finistère. A little tourist guide to help you discover the area.
The port of Doëlan, a historic site
To discover this marina, we invite you to stay in Clohars-Carnoët at Flower Camping Le Kergariou, just a few hundred meters from the port.
As you stroll along the green lighthouse, you won’t fail to notice this pretty little house in front of you, under the red lighthouse. This house of character is famous for having welcomed Robert Badinter, during whose stay he wrote the speech he delivered for the abolition of the death penalty.
A real postcard setting, the port of Doëlan in Southern Brittany is also a place of inspiration for many painters, such as Gauguin. The Maison-Musée du Pouldu opens its doors to you to discover the world of these painters.
A fishing port first and foremost
Historically, the port of Doëlan was synonymous with fishing, as evidenced by the former Capitaine Cook cannery. Today, the fish market welcomes you to the rhythm of the fishing boats for fans of fresh fish, of course! It’s a real meeting place for locals and holidaymakers alike. During spring tides, fishing enthusiasts gather to collect a variety of shellfish and seafood.
A port, yes, but also beaches
On the harbor, from the right or left bank, along the coastal path, you’re bound to find pretty little coves where you can put your towel down. True little beaches of fine sand, coves such as La Roche Percée and Beg An Tour offer direct access for a swim or simply to put your feet in the water between land and sea. Time for the whole family to relax on the beach.
A must for hikers
