Campsite near Cap Sizun

Here, Finistère fully justifies its name: the end of the land. Pass Quimper and continue on the road towards Cap Sizun from Le Kergariou campsite. There’s no doubt that these landscapes will charm you with their grandeur.

Cap Sizun is a parade of capes and promontories braving the open sea. The coastline culminates in the mythical Pointes du Raz and Pointes du Van. After the vast ocean spaces, the hinterland reveals its friendly character.

Classified as a ” Grand Site de France “, the Pointe du Raz is the most famous for its height (70m) and panorama. Opposite it, the square lighthouse of theîlot de la Vieille, and in the distance, you can see theisland of Sein and the famous Ar Men lighthouse on a clear day. Near the Pointe du Raz, shops and restaurants welcome you. The Maison du Site, equipped with a 100-seat projection room and exhibition hall, informs and educates visitors about the richness of the natural environment and the charms of Cap-Sizun, a region with many attractions.

We recommend a walk along the GR34 to reach the Pointe du Van. You’ll then cross the Baie des Trépassés. This large beach between the two points attracts surfers in particular. Celtic tradition has it that this bay was the embarkation point for druids bound for the Isle of Sein.

The Pointe du Van is no match for its big sister, the Pointe du Raz, as it is also very high (65m). Dominated by the Saint-They chapel, it impresses with its wild appearance, large rocks and varied vegetation.

Cap Sizun is also home to numerous birds, including the famous black-headed gull. Protected since 1996, the Pointe du Raz preserves the ecosystem of these species. Even more remarkable, don’t miss the Cap Sizun bird sanctuary. On a grandiose coastline dotted with islets, you can observe the birds from the bird-watching trail. For an eagle’s eye, telescopes are available and binoculars can be borrowed at the entrance.

This protected area near the Camping Le Kergariou allows you to escape for a day and discover the richness of this site.
