Visit Pont-Aven and its mills
But even before the painters, it was the mills that made the town famous. It’s no coincidence that a saying goes, “Pont-Aven, a town of renown, 14 mills and 15 houses.” Indeed, the power of the Aven River once drove the mill wheels. A few remnants remain, such as the Grand Poulguin Mill, the Rosmadec Mill, the Neuf Mill, Ty Meur, and the Pénanros Mill (which is still in operation).
The Bois d’Amour, on the hills above Pont-Aven, is a haven of peace where the sound of flowing water blends with the rustling of leaves and the songs of birds, bringing this timeless place to life. Just a stone’s throw from downtown, this wooded area has long been a major source of inspiration for painters.
