Authentic charm and movie sets by the sea
A shooting location for films and TV series, a postcard setting, an atypical yet typical place, welcome to the charming port of Doëlan in South Finistère.
The magnificent port of Doëlan is 1.5 km from Camping Le Kergariou.
Perhaps it will seem familiar to you from its many TV appearances?
Its 2 lighthouses welcome you for a timeless stroll in the Breton atmosphere.
Coastal paths, sea outings, coves, heavenly scenery, restaurant terraces with sea views, everything you need for a relaxing day in the iodized air of the Atlantic Ocean.
What to do in Doëlan
The port of Doëlan is well worth a visit, and after imagining it for a long time, when you leave Le Kergariou campsite, turn right and follow the winding road to the foot of the Pont Dû.
This is the starting point for the port of Doëlan, where you’ll see the first boats in this marvellous marina.
Right bank with a view of the emblematic green lighthouse and its pink house, or left bank with a pretty view of the fish market and the beautiful traditional houses.
In any case, take the time to enjoy the GR34 coastal path, which will take you through the heart of the port and its soothing atmosphere.
What to see in Doëlan
Doëlan lighthouses
This is undoubtedly the first thing that catches your eye: the Doëlan lighthouses.
One is green, on the left bank, the other red, on the right bank.
You can walk right up to them, the green lighthouse being the largest and most accessible, with a sumptuous view of the harbour entrance.
A project drawn up in 1945, it was not until 1961 that the lighthouses were installed and became the emblem of the harbour.
The coastal path (GR34)
Brittany’s mythical GR34, also known as the Sentier des Douaniers, runs along the coastline from Mont-Saint-Michel to Saint-Nazaire.
Over 2,000km of emblematic landscapes differ from stage to stage.
At the port of Doëlan, on the GR34 you’ll discover a cliff-side path, inviting you to take in the spectacle of the sea.
You’ll also discover historical treasures such as blockhouses.
Secret coves and beaches
Although they are called secret beaches, some coves are not so secret after all.
A small, intimate beach where the calm and the lapping of the water take you on a voyage of discovery, it’s along the GR34 that you’ll discover these little havens of peace.
Some are visible from the path, while others are more complex and accessible via ladders, and are well worth the effort.
For easier access, we highly recommend the Roche Percée cove, accessible by parking at Porsac’h.
Traditional houses
Stone facades, colorful shutters and gardens on the edge of Doëlan harbor, these traditional houses are the pride and joy of their owners.
Truly charming, they are an essential part of the Doëlan harbor décor.
As you stroll along the left bank, you’ll come across a house on the right bank that is close to the water, a house that is part of French history.
Indeed, it was here in 1981 that Robert Badinter wrote the first version of his speech for the abolition of the death penalty.
