The beaches of Moëlan-sur-Mer: peaceful and friendly

In Southern Brittany, we are lucky to have some very beautiful beaches. For your summer holidays, head for Moëlan-sur-Mer, a commune in South Finistère.

This destination is the meeting point of culture, charm, hiking, water sports and idleness for a holiday in Brittany. This seaside resort at the mouth of the Bélon river has made its beaches and coves the attraction for holidaymakers and locals alike to discover the rias country.

Les plages incontournables de Moëlan

The small, wild beaches of Moëlan-sur-Mer, between Riec-sur-Bélon and Clohars-Carnoët, offer a calm and relaxing setting, where parents like to come with their children. Amongst them, the Kerfany beach and the Trénez beach are the most popular.

Kerfany beach

Kerfany beach is the best known beach in Moëlan-sur-Mer. It is undoubtedly the beach of fine sand by predilection. This beach, which has been awarded the "Pavillon Bleu" (blue flag) label, has made a name for itself in the Quimperlé area, thanks in particular to its facilities. The beach is supervised in July and August and is one of the only beaches to install a "Tiralo" for people with reduced mobility during the summer. Its fine sand and its protected play area a few metres from the beach for the little ones make it "ideal" for family holidays.

The beach of Trénez

The beach of Trénez, smaller and wilder, located between the beach of Kerfany and the port of Doëlan, will charm you with its breathtaking view, facing the Ile Percée. This beach is peaceful all year round and in summer reveals a cameo of beach towels on the white sand. During your holidays, to recharge your batteries is the key word when you come to the beach of Trénez. At low tide, the Atlantic Ocean will make you discover a passage to the small island 50 meters away.

Les criques à découvrir

If you discover South Finistère, the first thing you will notice is its wild coastline. This part of Brittany, between land and sea, can be discovered by walking along the paths, in particular the GR34 (sentier des Douaniers). It is in the greatest of chances, that you will discover many places as unusual as inescapable like the small creeks of Porz Teg or Poulguen, located near the Port of Doëlan for the one, and the port of Brigneau for the other.

Your walk along the coastline will take you through an unforgettable landscape where you will walk along the turquoise water on one side and a wooded area on the other. Very quickly you will arrive at the beach of Trénez where a few metres further on you will find the coves of Porsguen and Prat Hervet. A haven of peace and quiet, this is the ideal place for the whole family to relax or swim.

Les activités en bord de mer

Like the Basque coast, the Breton coast is also a popular spot for water sports enthusiasts. As for the beaches of Le Pouldu, there are many water sports activities: paddle, surfing, kayaking, sand yachting and many others... So, during your next holiday by the sea, you will inevitably find among the many water sports activities, the one that suits you.

The seashore, especially the beach of Trénez, is the playground of the fishermen. With its direct access, it is with their feet in the water that they collect shellfish. The more experienced will appreciate the port of Bélon to enjoy the joys of harvesting their own oysters during a fishing trip on foot.
