Your holiday in the city of painters

Pont-Aven is a Mecca of French painting, the Ecole des Peintres is an emblematic place that has become the Pont-Aven museum. Don't be surprised to see painters inspired by the beauty of the landscape as you walk around.

To find the places that inspired the painters, the tourist office of Pont-Aven offers you a map with 4 circuits from 30 minutes to 1 hour. Pont-Aven is truly a special destination for art lovers, and inspires more than one artist!

Visit Pont-Aven and its mills

But before the painters, it was the mills that made the town's reputation. It is not for nothing that a saying goes "Pont-Aven, city of renown, 14 mills and 15 houses". In fact, the power of the river Aven used to turn the wheels of the mills. Some remains remain, such as the Grand Poulguin mill, the Rosmadec mill, the Neuf mill, Ty Meur, and the Pénanros mill (still in operation).

The Bois d'Amour, on the heights of Pont-Aven, is a haven of peace where the sound of water mingles with that of the leaves and birds that bring this timeless site to life. A stone's throw from the town centre, this undergrowth has been a major source of inspiration for painters.

Don't forget to bring back souvenirs from Pont-Aven, especially the famous "galettes de Pont-Aven", from the biscuit factory of your choice: Traou Mad, the Biscuiterie Penven, and the Biscuiterie de Pont-Aven.
